Farida is now an idol

Farida Begum (51), born in Naogaon, married to a day laborer named Jaynal Mondol of Balubhora when she was only thirteen, gave birth to a baby girl and a boy within two years of marriage, before learning anything about life. Being always struggling with needs and poverty, Farida started to realize the importance of money for survival. Started her journey buying a calf worth Tk 4,000 through loan from DABI, which was brought up with great care by family members and sold in a few days for BDT 12,000/. She didn’t have to look back since then. DABI has been providing support for the last ten years. In the meantime, she bought 0.75 decimal land, transformed her hay hut to a well furnished three-room brick building With a visibility of a TV, water pump, bicycle, poultry and ducks. Her daughter is now a SSC, married in a better family, having husband working abroad. Farida’s son, also a SSC, took training from youth development training centre before establishing him as a successful tailor. Her family is now worth respect. Her family has also increased capacity to cope with disasters after a flood damaged crops and domestics worth BDT 40,000. Prosperity made them able to employ 8-10 more families to make them survive. She now became an idol to others.
